Make Shakespeare come alive by understanding the rhythms of the verse and the world it creates.
This workshop is designed primarily for teachers of speech and drama, who may wish to take a different look at the learning activities and class structures that facilitate the study of Shakespeare in schools. The session will introduce, via scene study from Romeo and Juliet, ways of working that can bring the text alive. The principles may be applied to a range of age groups.
The workshop will use acting and directing techniques adapted for classroom teaching and all participants will be asked to actively take part. The content is designed to encourage detailed text study alongside practical processes in order to create an atmosphere of fun alongside breaking down the fears that usually accompany the study of Shakespeare.
