Our friends over at Rainshadow Studios who have produced the immersive arts x tech game experience Scarce City has invited up to 20 members of SDEA under the age of 35 for a session on 3rd March 2025, 8pm! This special session made possible by the National Youth Council, includes the Scarce City experience and a 30-minute discussion aimed at surveying youth attitudes towards diverse pathways to success.

Meeting location and time: 7.30pm at National Gallery Singapore, Coleman St Entrance

About Scarce City

Combining serious games and immersive theatre, Scarce City aims to kickstart conversations about the psychology behind climate change and what is means to have enough. Audiences navigate a light-based resource management game involving body tracking technology and a 3D-printed environment made from recycled plastic.

Inspired by Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics, the experience asks: What is enough? What happens when our society is driven by a predominant narrative of scarcity? An intimate post-game discussion invites participants to reflect on what it means to win and draws connections between their in-game psychology and their real-world implications for the climate transition.

How It Works:

  1. Let’s Play: Players participate in a 20 min team-based immersive game.
  2. Let’s Chat: A facilitated discussion follows, helping players reflect on their experiences and draw connections to real-world issues.
  3. Let’s Learn: Players read about real-world businesses and organisations redefining what success looks like to them.
  4. National Youth Council Survey: As part of the special SDEA session, players will participate in an additional 30-minute discussion aimed at surveying youth attitudes toward diverse pathways to success.

The session is free by registration and open to SDEA members aged 35 and below.
